The Mediawise Project responded to the need to improve media, information, digital, and ICT literacy (MIL) among youth workers, educators, and young leaders. It was based on the recognition of a rapidly changing media environment, the growing spread of disinformation, and the lack of systemic support for both educators and young people in the area of critical information literacy. The main goal of the project was to strengthen MIL competences among youth workers and educators, enabling them to more effectively guide young people aged 15–25 towards responsible and critical use of digital media. The project supported critical thinking, digital safety, and inclusive education. Identified needs addressed by the project: Understanding digital media – the need to better understand how media function within the context of digital technologies. Developing critical thinking – the necessity to evaluate the credibility of information in light of the spread of misinformation and disinformation. Supporting educators – the lack of time, methodological support, and materials focused on media literacy. Supporting young people – a gap in MIL education within formal schooling and the need to strengthen the digital competences of young people. Specific project objectives: By the end of the main activity (PDA), to strengthen MIL competences among 21 youth workers, educators, and young leaders. By February 2025, to increase the professional capacity in media literacy of at least 95 educators through follow-up activities. To organise and implement at least 14 interactive workshops in the partner countries, focused on MIL and led by PDA participants. To develop and pilot at least 5 non-formal learning activities in the field of MIL, transferable to various contexts. By November 2024, to create a digital toolbox containing: practical tools, inspirational materials from at least 7 countries, 5 specific educational outlines. To create a network of at least 25 educators from 7 countries who are actively engaged in MIL and who will continue to share know-how and examples of good practice.
