The project entitled "Journey as Cure" seeks to involve three groups of differently disadvantaged pupils from our school in three different journeys around Europe with the aim of broadening their horizons, gaining confidence in themselves, and focusing their interest on a world in which it is possible, through active exploration, to overcome many of the limitations that currently affect and trouble young people. Pupils will be able to choose one of three different themes, either historical, musical or related to Bauhaus architecture. Through their interest in one of these themes, pupils will be able to go on three journeys which they will have to prepare and plan in detail themselves. Throughout the process of preparation, implementation, evaluation and dissemination, they will be active initiators of all activities related to the paths. They will be assisted by experienced peers and teachers who will support them in the process. The project aims at making the pupils more aware of their disadvantage and work with it. Pupils will be forced to leave their conforming zone on a journey to explore places that are connected to their interests. They will overcome the discomfort associated with the unknown and rely on the help of others in the team. They will create new certainties that are not tied to their home. Throughout this project, our school will take an inclusive approach and ensure that it is accessible to pupils who are medically, socially, economically, geographically and culturally disadvantaged. This is a pilot project for our school, where we will learn how to send groups of disadvantaged pupils abroad for experience, whom we can support personally, humanly and professionally on their so far difficult journey to the world.
