The project aimed to strengthen environmental education at the school level and promote the development of students’ environmental ethics and understanding of climate action. It also focused on equipping teachers with new methodological tools and competencies to effectively integrate these topics across different subjects. A key objective was the creation of an e-learning platform for both teachers and students, offering structured educational materials and methodological guidance. In addition, the project developed scenario-based online games that present environmental and climate topics in an interactive and engaging way. To ensure measurable outcomes, the project defined clear targets, including at least five training modules, 12 scenario-based online games, and content available in four languages (English, Turkish, Czech, and Polish). It also aimed to reach a minimum of 120 registered users and to certify at least 80 participants by the end of the project. Overall, the project connected environmental and climate topics with practical classroom application, supported the development of students’ key competencies, and made effective use of digital tools aligned with the learning preferences of the current generation.
We applied for the project because we recognize the growing need to systematically develop environmental ethics and understanding of climate action among students. In educational practice, we also encountered a lack of modern and methodologically sound tools that would help teachers effectively integrate these topics into their lessons while engaging the current generation of students. This generation spends a significant amount of time in digital environments, and traditional teaching methods are often insufficiently motivating for them. This need was further confirmed by our own needs assessment, in which most of the surveyed teachers in Türkiye and Czechia reported having no structured methodological tools for integrating environmental ethics into their teaching practices. The project addressed the need to connect environmental education with innovative, interdisciplinary, competency-based learning. It developed an e-learning platform for teachers and students, along with scenario-based online games presenting environmental and climate topics in an interactive, accessible way. This supported educators in teaching these issues more effectively while offering students engaging, relevant learning aligned with their digital habits.
