The project aimed to create a comprehensive concept for teaching 3D printing at lower secondary level, to strengthen teachers’ skills in 3D modelling and in using 3D printers, and to increase pupils’ motivation through hands‑on, project‑based learning. A key objective was also to produce a multilingual methodological handbook in Czech, Icelandic and English, summarising the curriculum framework, teaching approaches and examples of classroom activities that can be used by other schools.
The project was based on long-term cooperation between ZŠ Karla Jeřábka in Roudnice nad Labem and its partner school in Borgarnes, Iceland. Both schools identified a need to modernise teaching, especially in digital technologies and hands-on learning. A shared goal was not only to introduce 3D printing as an innovative teaching tool but also to create practical outputs, especially a methodological handbook. Another important need was to improve students’ language skills and their ability to collaborate in an international environment.
