Europe's demographic trends require a workforce that can cope with an aging population with multimorbidity of chronic diseases. This requires health professions education that supports lifelong and interprofessional learning with innovative pedagogies and technologies. However, skills labs or workplaces often lack essential conditions for individual, deliberate practice and interprofessional learning. Digital transformation and related research are needed to empower a future-proof workforce.
