The objective of our project and our main activity the Summer of Art is to facilitate non-formal learning with the methods of art. Young people today are faced with many crises and concerns which can be overwhelming. At our location in the rural area of Brandenburg we can offer the opportunity to be away from distraction and to focus on the project. We are located in the wood close to two lakes and offer easy access to nature. Through the means of different art forms, participants gain access to a topic and learn to express their ideas and views about it in different ways. The topic of the Summer of Art 2024 was Possibilities. Through this topic participants were encouraged to develop positive ideas about their future and reflect on their capacities to act and make things possible, in their individual lives as well as on a societal scale. By doing it in an international setting they also learn how to look at societal issues from different cultural perspectives. The means of the arts provides a low-threshold opportunity to discuss these topics. In the project we reach out to young people from rural areas and provide an opportunity to gain more cultural access. We provide a space in which participants can experiment and try out new methods and ideas.
