The project partners have been organizing the international youth exchange "We Can Do It!" for people with and without disabilities for 18 years now, primarily in countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. The project has survived this long primarily because it is supported by an ever-increasing number of volunteers. Several people who participated in the project as young people 10 or 12 years ago have now joined the group leadership team. In 2019, for the first time, we conducted a training course for these volunteers in Berlin alongside the youth exchange in Azerbaijan, using the same project proposal. Essentially, this training (and the time the leaders from the individual countries were able to spend together without having to lead the youth exchange at the same time) made us realize how much we had neglected our own continuing education and training as volunteer youth workers while working with the young people. The training in Berlin in March 2019 was extremely important for all leaders, and we have decided to continue this path to equip youth work professionals with skills and methods that enable them to convey fundamental and shared values of our society, with the aim of preventing the radicalization of young people.
