Objectives

With our international projects, we generally pursue the following three objectives: - reducing intolerant attitudes and discrimination through international exchange, - professionalizing international work through the exchange of experience and cooperation, and - fostering the participation of young people by giving them responsibility and enabling them to gain international experience. In this particular project, we also aimed to establish new partnerships: on the one hand with the migrant association “Georgians in Dresden”, which took part as an associated partner on the German side, and on the other hand with the Georgian partner “Student Youth Council”. While the first association hoped to gain impulses for its youth work through our cooperation, we saw the partnership with the very experienced Georgian organization as enriching for our own practice as a provider of international encounters. The young people we wanted to reach were those interested in exploring study and career opportunities in Germany. At the same time, the project focused on questions of identity: in Germany, we addressed young people with a migration background, while in Georgia we reached out to young people interested in studying or training abroad. In both cases, the target groups were young people striving for – or already living – a life outside their country of origin. Through the planning of practical projects on migrant life as well as through a simulation game, civic engagement was also to be strengthened. Regarding the priorities of Key Action 1, we had in mind “participation in democratic life, common values and civic engagement” as well as the “EU Youth Goals”.
