Objectives

With the Erasmus+ accreditation in the youth sector, our aim was to safeguard and further develop the quality, sustainability and strategic focus of our international education and mobility work in the long term. The accreditation was intended to enable us to plan and implement international youth exchanges more reliably, thereby opening up access for more young people to non-formal education programmes, European cooperation and civic engagement. The basis for our application was our many years of experience in international youth and voluntary work, as well as the need to further expand our educational work in the face of societal challenges such as increasing polarisation, social inequality, the climate crisis and global conflicts. Through long-term funding under the Erasmus+ programme, we aimed to be able to allocate more resources to content-related and methodological work, rather than repeatedly having to develop extensive individual applications with uncertain funding prospects. Our aim was to create reliable structures for young people, active participants, trainers and partner organisations. A key objective of our project was the active involvement and empowerment of young people in the planning and implementation of European projects. Young people were not merely to be addressed as participants, but were to increasingly take on responsibility, contribute their own topics and ideas, and play a part in the development, implementation and evaluation of activities. In this way, we sought to strengthen personal, social and organisational skills and create opportunities for self-organisation, democratic participation and voluntary engagement. We placed particular emphasis on involving young people with fewer opportunities to participate more actively and on enabling them to access international learning and exchange programmes. A second objective was the further development and consolidation of our international educational mobility programmes. Through recurring programme formats, stable partnerships and improved internal processes, we aimed to enhance the quality of our programmes. Accreditation was intended to help systematically share experiences, continuously refine methods and integrate the outcomes of Erasmus+ activities into our organisation’s work in the long term. At the same time, we sought to strengthen cooperation within the international SCI network and with other European partner organisations. Furthermore, we aimed to engage young people in peace work by promoting changes in perspective, teaching non-violent conflict resolution methods and fostering solidarity. Through international exchanges and non-formal education methods, we aimed to facilitate shifts in perspective, foster empathy and develop skills in non-violent conflict resolution. Our activities were designed to create spaces where young people could learn about different realities of life, discover common ground and experience themselves as part of a European and international community. Another key focus was on promoting environmental protection and climate justice in international youth work. Building on previous Erasmus+ projects, we aimed to integrate climate issues more closely into our educational activities and empower young people to understand ecological and social interconnections and develop their own ways of taking action. At the same time, we sought to further develop our expertise in sustainable international mobility, green travel and climate-conscious project design, and to share this with partner organisations. Overall, by implementing our accreditation strategy, we aimed to contribute to the objectives of Erasmus+ and the EU Youth Strategy: to engage, connect and empower young people. Through international mobility, we sought to promote a more inclusive, democratic and peaceful society, whilst at the same time sustainably developing our own structures as an organisation involved in international youth work.
