Objectives

The project “Plastic Green Free Future” was implemented with the aim of increasing the knowledge, skills, competences, and environmental awareness of 36 participants from six EU organisations regarding plastic waste management and the negative impact of plastic pollution on the environment. Through a structured programme of non-formal education activities, the project aimed to empower young people to become more responsible, informed, and active in promoting sustainable and eco-friendly behaviours. One of the main objectives was to raise awareness about the dangers of plastic as a pollutant and to encourage participants to develop sustainable practices in their daily lives and communities. The project aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and tools to reduce plastic use, promote recycling, and support environmental protection initiatives. Another important objective was to promote active participation and leadership among young people, including 12 participants with fewer opportunities. These participants were actively involved in all stages of the project, gaining equal access to learning opportunities and developing their confidence, communication skills, and teamwork abilities. The project aimed to support their inclusion and personal development through active engagement in group tasks and leadership roles. The project also aimed to strengthen participants’ digital and creative competences through the development of awareness-raising materials such as posters, videos, and online campaigns. These activities were intended to improve participants’ ability to communicate environmental messages effectively and promote responsible behaviour towards nature within their local communities and online networks. Intercultural learning was another key objective, achieved through intercultural evenings where participants shared the traditions, cultures, and values of six European countries. This contributed to strengthening mutual understanding, tolerance, and European identity among participants. The project further aimed to provide participants with practical learning experiences through visits to organisations working in the field of recycling and environmental protection, as well as through panel discussions with experts. These activities were designed to connect theoretical knowledge with real-life environmental practices and inspire participants to develop innovative ideas for reducing plastic waste. A key objective was also to introduce participants to the Youthpass certificate and the process of reflection and self-assessment. Participants were encouraged to monitor their learning progress, identify acquired competences, and reflect on their personal development throughout the project. At the organisational level, the project aimed to strengthen cooperation among partner organisations, improve their capacity in delivering environmental education activities, and promote long-term collaboration within Erasmus+ programmes. The project also aimed to increase the visibility of organisations as promoters of environmental education and youth engagement. Overall, the project aimed to promote sustainable behaviour, environmental responsibility, active citizenship, and international cooperation, while creating long-term impact at both participant and organisational level.
