Objectives

Self-branding is essential ability for young person to career success and (self-)employment. In an age where digital presence and marketability are intertwined with career progression and opportunities, mastering the art of self-branding becomes not just advantageous but essential for young individuals. Recognizing the imperative role personal branding plays in setting oneself apart in a crowded job market, the initiative "Me, Inc." aims to equip young people with the tools and insights needed to carve out their unique identities and professional paths. Even international journal of leadership Forbes agree, that personal branding is more important than ever. The relevance of personal branding extends beyond mere self-promotion; it is about identifying one's unique value proposition and communicating it effectively to the world. This project is not just an investment in creating a visually appealing online profile; it is about fostering a deep sense of self-awareness, enabling participants to articulate their skills, strengths, passions, and values. This introspective journey is crucial for young people as it builds the foundation upon which their professional personas can flourish. It helps youngsters to get into market, which is very competitive nowadays, and helps them to build their future. Improving self-branding competence for youngsters leads to gaining more self-confidence, critical thinking and acknowledging their abilities which at the same time contributes to Erasmus+ goals. Biggest part of the youngsters in our association agreed – they needed some „kick“ to form their own image and personality, to employ themselves, and all this could be reached by creating their own brand. It is to describe themselves better and to create their own authority instead of being followers of someone else thoughts. Taking all these conditions into consideration, we initiated a project about self branding "Me, Inc.". Having talked with our friends and partners from foreign NGOs we realised that this topic is actual and needed for youngsters not only in Germany but in other foreign countries as well. Having youth exchange helped to develop ideas at international level and share opinions from different cultural backgrounds so it would gain even more value for youngsters of our organisation and participants. "Me, Inc." was designed to address this need by fostering an environment where young individuals are encouraged to explore, define, and communicate their personal brands effectively. This is particularly crucial for youth facing social obstacles, who often encounter additional barriers to self-expression and career advancement. By dedicating a significant portion of the project—20-30% of participants—to those with social challenges and facing other kind of barriers, "Me, Inc." aimed to democratize access to personal branding tools and strategies, ensuring that every young person had the opportunity to shine. Project‘s topic: self-branding Project‘s aims: to increase self-employment, critical thinking and authority creating skills through self-branding. Project‘s objectives: • To analyse everyone‘s own personality and create self-brand (for participants) • To increase participants‘ abilities to employ themselves and form their own opinion by the end of the project. • To figure out the ways how improved critical thinking and self-branding skills can help others to integrate into society for project's participants and local community members by the end of the project. • To promote Erasmus+ programme and it‘s goals Project‘s topic corresponded to Erasmus+ priorities as it was enhancing critical thinking and sense of initiative of young people as well as it worked on clarifying common fundamental values of our society and reached young people with obstacles and included them into learning process. Our project went in line with core topics of Erasmus+, EU Youth Strategy, aligned with the principles of Youth exchange and especially complied with EU Youth goal no. 7 Quality Employment for All: Skills development for quality jobs: Personal branding is a key competency in the modern labor market, where self presentation and visibility can significantly impact employment opportunities. By enhancing participants' self-branding skills, the project contributed to preparing young people for quality employment, ensuring they stand out in competitive job markets and can secure positions that offer fair working conditions and rights. Combating unemployment and social exclusion: The project targeted young people, including those with fewer opportunities, by providing them with the tools and confidence needed to improve their employability. This approach directly addressed high youth unemployment rates and the challenge of social exclusion, by empowering participants to take active steps towards their professional development and integration into the labor market.
