Objectives

One of the most remarkable observations made by our team members during previous Youth Exchanges was how individuals from different cultural backgrounds interacted with the environment. Participants represented a diverse range of nationalities and perspectives. For instance, some had already adopted small yet meaningful environmental practices, such as reducing plastic consumption and recycling, due to the strong environmental values embedded in their culture. However, others were less engaged and did not fully grasp the significance of these simple yet impactful actions. Through our YE, we facilitated the sharing of international expertise on environmental preservation and its crucial role in fostering active citizenship among future generations. The exchange of knowledge and experiences among young people from different countries served as a foundational step toward broader information dissemination. Our project not only raised awareness about environmental protection but also emphasized the importance of becoming “Nature Saviors” by actively reducing pollution caused with daily individual consumption habits. This included addressing food waste, excessive use of stationery supplies, and the importance of choosing eco-friendly materials. As part of our efforts, we organized a campaign and produced professional commercials during the exchange, which were shared both among participants during the implementation phase and with a wider audience once they returned to their communities. Furthermore, the project promoted environmental awareness and encouraged the active participation of young people, grounded in the principles of non-formal education. By implementation of our project, we achieved all the criteria which we had defined. The following specific objectives were fulfilled: • Identify and share similarities & differences in practices used in different countries in terms of protecting the environment, • Encourage everyone -especially young volunteers who are active in civil society- to participate actively in environmental protection and improvement, • Increase awareness about being ‘environmental friendly youth’ by organizing campaigns and shooting videos, • Develop a sense of responsibility and raise youth awareness of their own influence on the natural environment (create an informative campaign that each participant country can develop and implement in their community), • Offer the opportunity to meet partner groups and develop concrete ideas for future projects focusing on environmental issues, • Encourage youth to involve in critical and creative thinking about alternatives to these global challenges and to feel empowered to take action to face these challenges, • Analyze the local practices (from partner countries) and compare them to each other • Be aware of reasons behind global warming and results from rapid environmental changes • Be aware of the possible consequences of global warming • Know about how reducing waste and recycling can decrease the amount of greenhouse gasses • Learn about clean and renewable energy by focusing on sustainable environment and livable future • Learn how to apply the 8R to daily life • Give young people the opportunity to acquire skills in organizing, networking, team working and to experience project development in a dynamic international work environment, as a preparation to being an active citizen with self-confidence in managing tasks and projects, • Use recycling and reusing techniques in everyday life, • Support young people to increase their knowledge about Erasmus+ Program and youth exchange projects in order to develop new projects in the future, • Professional videos and campaigns by using social media very actively in order to reach as many as people possible for outcomes of our project and for the visibility of Erasmus+ Program.
