Objectives

With Flavours of the Wild, we wanted to give young people the chance to reconnect with nature and with each other—through outdoor cooking, teamwork, and intercultural learning. The goal was to raise awareness about sustainability and different cultures, while also building personal competences like communication, leadership, and adaptability in a hands-on way. We felt there is a growing distance between young people and the natural world, and at the same time, not enough space for them to truly get to know people from different backgrounds. By bringing together participants from different countries in a natural setting, we aimed to create meaningful connections—both with the environment and between cultures. A big focus of the project was also inclusion. We wanted to involve young people with fewer opportunities and make sure they had equal access to learning, fun, and new experiences. The combination of simple outdoor life, shared cooking, and intercultural exchange created an atmosphere where everyone could participate and feel part of the group. Through the two youth exchanges—one in a remote campsite in Georgia and the second in a more structured but still natural setting in Germany—the participants got to experience both challenge and comfort, reflection and action. We hoped this contrast would help them not only grow personally, but also bring what they learned back to their own communities.
