Objectives

The project marked the conclusion of a multi-phase exchange program that was launched during the lockdown period. Due to the restrictions at the time, the first two phases took place entirely online in February and May 2021. When COVID regulations were later eased, we were able to organize a hybrid meeting in July 2021: participants gathered simultaneously in person in Bolu (Turkey) and Cottbus (Germany), while also being digitally connected on an international level. Finally, in October 2023, the first fully physical meeting was held in Afacan near Izmir, Turkey. The final stage of the project concluded with a meeting in Berlin in December 2024. The goal was to create a space for young women and FLINTA* individuals from Germany and Turkey to exchange experiences, build networks, and empower one another. Our organization is committed to promoting intercultural encounters through youth mobility projects. The aim is not only to cross geographical borders but also personal boundaries. Young participants are encouraged to get to know themselves better by engaging with different life realities. This specific project aimed to offer participants a shared space to reflect on their experiences as women and FLINTA* individuals in patriarchal societies. It also provided a framework for learning about feminist movements, sharing knowledge, and building international connections. The concluding meeting in Berlin was intended to raise awareness about feminist struggles, promote political empowerment, and bring together diverse experiences. The encounter sought to create a lasting space of solidarity and mutual support that extends beyond the project itself. Finally, the project allowed participants to gain experience abroad, broaden their perspectives, and form international friendships — in line with the goals of an emancipatory youth exchange.
