Objectives

The main aim of the project was and hopefully still is to empower young people by actively including them in the exploration of sustainable alternatives of Fast Fashion. They should include all their experiences, skills and cultural backgrounds, to think critically about the fashion industry and develop new approaches about how to counteract and how to be once more aware of that highly important topic. As European Solidarity Corps volunteers based at the Ponichala Youth Center in Tbilisi, Georgia, we worked with local youth through various educational and creative activities, including foreign language courses, games, and art. To bring awareness to the whole matter of fast fashion, we included the local youth in the preparation and finally the operation of the project. The energy and motivation we saw made it clear that this project should be “From youngsters – for youngsters,” and confirmed our belief in the importance of youth-led change. Through this project, we hoped to give young people the tools, ideas, and confidence they need to be part of the change and help build a more fair and sustainable future. Objectives: - Educate about the impacts of fast fashion on the environment and society - Explore the influence of social media on consumption behavior and identify strategies employed by industries to promote fast fashion trends - Supporting mental health and confidence - Encourage reflection on participants' own consumption habits and the influence of social media on their engagement with fashion trends - Create resilience against fashion trends and encourage them to develop their own "Fashion" style apart from the trends - Promote understanding of sustainability and sustainable fashion practices - Raise awareness about recycling and up-cycling as means to decrease the environmental impact of fashion - Inspire creativity and empower participants to create video content to spread awareness about sustainable fashion.
