We aimed to support youth workers in increasing their competences, network and positive experience in order to respond to the growing mental health needs of young people. Many youth workers expressed that even they were facing emotional stress themselves and lacked the tools to support the young people they work with, especially those with fewer opportunities and with challenged mental health situation. The pandemic, social isolation, and uncertainty had intensified mental health challenges, especially among youth with fewer opportunities. Our project responded directly to this and the need for increasing the competences of the youth workers to be able to work with young people on daily basis. The main aim of the project was: To develop the capacity of partner organisations to address the mental health educational needs of young people in their communities by developing the competences of their youth workers on the topic. The project objectives were: - To assess the state of mental health in different countries through research, intercultural dialogue, and exchange of good practices. - To raise awareness and improve competences among youth workers on how to address their own mental health and apply healthy habits in their daily lives. - To increase the competence of youth workers to implement educational youth programmes, projects, and workshops on mental health at the local, national, and international level. - To facilitate the use of mental health education tools for youth workers across Europe. - To help participants design and run their own workshops and projects on the topic, involving their local youth and sharing what they learned through the training. These goals were at the heart of the project design and were consistently reflected in the learning process, activities, and follow-up actions.
