Objectives

This project was implemented with the overarching aim of fostering a comprehensive approach to Genocide remembrance and education specifically targeting marginalized youth. A key focus was on actively involving these young individuals in various project activities and simultaneously enhancing cooperation between Roma and non-Roma youth and relevant organizations. Our central intention was to cultivate intercultural dialogue, promote youth inclusion and empowerment, and encourage active citizenship. Furthermore, the project sought to equip Roma youth with the skills and confidence necessary to develop and implement their own projects within the Erasmus+ Programme framework. The objectives were: 1- To provide a platform for 30 young individuals from diverse European countries to convene, share personal experiences, and collaboratively develop shared visions and narratives through artistic and creative non-formal education methodologies. 2- To empower participants by strengthening their sense of identity, self-awareness, and self-esteem, thereby enabling them to effectively advocate for the issues that matter to them and their communities. 3- To build the capacity, foster creativity, and encourage initiative among young Roma individuals. This included developing human resources within Roma organizations and networks dedicated to promoting active citizenship, an inclusive knowledge-based society, and the equal enjoyment of rights and responsibilities for all European citizens. 4- To enhance inclusive strategies that specifically focus on fostering trust and collaboration between Roma and non-Roma communities. This objective also aimed to increase broader societal awareness regarding the collective responsibility for social inclusion and the imperative to combat racism and xenophobia 5- To encourage and increase awareness of the Roma Genocide during World War II among young Europeans. A further aim was to enhance the visibility of Roma youth actively engaged in citizenship to address racism and xenophobia, thereby fostering meaningful dialogue between young individuals, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders. We aimed to contribute to the professionalization and advancement of youth work practice by equipping youth workers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to effectively address the needs and rights of marginalized youth and promote social justice and inclusion within their respective communities.
