Objectives

The project ‘Addressing Gender Issues in Youth Work’ aimed to enhance the competencies of youth workers in addressing gender issues in their work with young people, particularly those facing geographical, social, and cultural obstacles. The idea for the project emerged from youth workers of the applicant organization, who expressed a strong interest in participating in an international activity that would allow them to develop their skills by engaging with youth workers from different countries and learning about various practices, tools, and methods. The objectives of the project were: • To increase participants’ understanding and knowledge of key gender-related concepts, including gender equality, gender mainstreaming, and gender-based stereotypes. • To develop the skills of youth workers to address gender issues in their work with young people, particularly in tackling gender-based stereotypes. • To explore gender realities across participating countries, focusing on gender-based discrimination, such as challenges in job-seeking processes. • To review and improve gender equality practices within the participating organizations. • To facilitate the exchange of tools, methods, and activities among participants to enhance the quality of their youth work. • To create a space for brainstorming new local and international initiatives, including potential Erasmus+ projects. • To share key lessons learned with local communities through follow-up activities, including interactive presentations. • To encourage broader discussions on gender issues by producing 10 short stories summarizing key insights, published on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. • To organize an online event via Zoom to share findings with youth organizations and educational institutions. • To increase participants’ knowledge of the Erasmus+ Programme and foster new partnerships among organizations.
