Objectives

One objective was to support the social and professional integration of young designers with a migrant background by providing new educational and employment opportunities. The project responded to their need for specialized training in sustainable 3D printing technologies and design practices, while developing practical skills related to circular economy principles, creative reuse, and sustainable production. Another objective was to create a supportive learning environment where migrant women could develop new competencies, build professional networks, and increase their confidence to participate actively in local communities. Through trainings, workshops, and collaborative activities, the project aimed to reduce barriers to employment and support their social and economic integration. The project reflected the needs of partner organizations to promote sustainability, strengthen social inclusion of young migrants, expand activities related to women’s empowerment and employability, and explore innovative solutions such as 3D printing in sustainable fashion. Through this cooperation, partners aimed to build capacity, use the potential of new technologies for sustainability, and contribute to community development.

Background

Our organizations applied for this project in response to the growing need to support the social and professional integration of young migrant women. Germany and Poland have experienced a significant inflow of migrants and refugees from neighbouring countries, particularly Belarus and Ukraine. Many of them are well educated, including individuals from artistic and creative professions, yet they often face barriers in accessing education, employment opportunities, and professional networks. At the same time, the transition toward a circular economy is becoming an important priority in Europe. This creates new opportunities for sustainable employment, skills development, especially in sectors related to creative industries, reuse, and environmentally responsible production. We addressed these needs by combining social inclusion, skills development, and circular economy principles. It aimed to provide migrant women with opportunities to develop new competencies, improve their employability, and participate more actively in local communities. At the same time, the project strengthened cooperation between partner organizations and supported their capacity to respond to emerging social, economic, and environmental challenges.
