Objectives

Guldborgsund Youth School (GUSK) has worked with the project "the View" to show and raise awareness among the young participants in the activities about their opportunities to seek and gain influence. Influence on the extent to which GUSK involves the young in choosing content and activities in the Youth School. It is important to understand that influence can be very local and details of what is happening very close, or it can be in forums with a broader focus and include a larger group, the entire institution or the entire municipality. The partner institutions have similarly worked to involve the young, not least in the activities that have been the content and program in "the View". With the activities in the project, GUSK and partner institutions have worked both practically, in workshops and on visits to relevant institutions, to make it clear to the young participants that we are facing climate challenges and that we ourselves are jointly responsible and can try to contribute to reducing the amount of unsorted waste and cleaning up after ourselves. GUSK has had an ambition to strengthen Guldborgsund municipality's international youth cooperation. There has been room for the young people to meet and build a community across countries and cultures. It has been important to us that there has been time, space and the opportunity to just have fun with each other. GUSK has wanted employees to consider international cooperation in all of the Youth School's offerings. With employee exchanges, we wanted to achieve that the participating employees have the opportunity to meet colleagues from other countries and in dialogue discover comparable/different challenges and how they are worked with in other institutions outside Denmark's borders. The goals for project the View are, as for GUSK accreditation, the following: - To develop young people's interest in influencing relevant youth issues primarily locally, but also in a larger European and global perspective. - That young people become aware of the importance of their own and groups' actions for the climate, nature and a sustainable balance in the local environment and to consider global sustainability. And for the employee exchanges a 3rd goal - That the employees of the secondary school become better able to support the young people in seeking influence on the secondary school offer and on the municipal youth policy. GUSK has achieved that more employees are attentive and active in GUS' Erasmus+ activities. A group of employees across GUSK' departments and activities have formed a team during the project period, which has held several meetings, where both the overall goals and more specific and practical tasks have been discussed.
