Objectives

Through this training course, our goal was to improve the quality of youth projects, training courses, and seminars by exploring effective ways of addressing European topics, exchanging project ideas connected to European issues, and identifying how young people can actively influence ongoing European integration processes. Objectives of the training course: -Strengthen the link between citizenship, responsibility for one’s community, and active participation in society. -Provide opportunities for experiential learning, dialogue, and sharing perspectives on citizenship from both historical and contemporary angles. -Engage participants practically with different levels of citizenship (local, national, and European) through simulations, case studies, and method development. -Reflect on European identity and its underlying values, such as democracy, tolerance, pluralism, and human rights. -Raise the quality and impact of projects that focus on youth participation and active citizenship. Specific needs we addressed: 1. Connecting citizenship at different levels - Many young people engage locally but struggle to link their efforts to broader national and European dimensions. This project aimed to bridge that gap by fostering an understanding of how local action connects to wider contexts. 2. Adding value to non-formal civic education -The programme tested and evaluated civic education methods with youth workers and trainers. Unlike regular training, we critically discussed the purpose, implementation, and effectiveness of each method. Participants also shared their own practices and contributed ideas, ensuring the programme remained responsive to the real needs of youth work. 3. Developing skills and tools -The training encouraged participants’ creativity while introducing reliable methods in civic education. Skills were developed in areas such as fostering participation, promoting responsibility, and applying innovative approaches to citizenship education.
