Objectives

The project aimed to create inclusive communities for young people in Furesø Municipality, using the green meal as a focal point. Through social dinners we wanted to give young people the opportunity to meet across ages, interests, and backgrounds – while also strengthening their knowledge and ability to take action within sustainability. The project was based on the wishes and needs of young people, and it was developed and carried out by young people, for young people. It was essential that the young participants took ownership of the project and were able to shape both its content and direction. During the project period, we hosted four social dining events. The main objectives were: • To increase young people’s knowledge of sustainable eating habits, with a focus on food waste, local ingredients and organic produce. • To strengthen young people’s mental well-being by creating new communities and safe environments where they can meet in new contexts and feel connected to others in the municipality. • To promote inclusive communities where young people meet across social and cultural differences. • To give young people a voice and responsibility by letting them act as ambassadors and take the lead in planning and running activities. • To inspire a sustainable lifestyle and show how small personal choices can make a difference for the climate, themselves and their local community. In addition, the project aimed to strengthen the collaboration between UngFuresø, Furesø Youth Panel, and Furesø Youth Climate Council – exploring how we can work together to create attractive and sustainable youth communities in Furesø and increase youth involvement.
