Objectives

The youth exchange “Generations Unlocked” was the only project implemented under Life Zone’s Erasmus+ Youth accreditation in 2023/2024, as we got minimum amount of 25 000 Euros grant, which was enough to organise one activity and we chose to organise a youth exchange for minor young people with fewer opportunities, which was always our priority in the organisation and we stated it in the accreditation strategy plan. Despite that we could not arrange all 3 activities, planned in the initial accreditation, we still wanted to design an activity combining all three strategic objectives of the accreditation: empowering young people, strengthening cooperation between organisations, and enhancing the visibility of youth work. Every year young people express an interest in a new topic for a youth exchange and this year the choice was on the artistic side as well as digging into the past of our generations. The overall aim was to create an inclusive, creative, and inspiring learning experience for young people from Estonia, Finland, Spain, and Poland, where they could explore intergenerational dialogue, artistic expression, and cultural diversity. The project aimed to empower young people with fewer opportunities through creativity, intercultural learning, and intergenerational dialogue. By combining storytelling, music, theatre, and film, participants gained confidence, teamwork, and communication skills while making youth work visible to the wider public. The specific objectives were to: - Empower young people of minor age by engaging them in creative self-expression, non-formal learning, and teamwork, helping them develop confidence, communication, and social skills. - Give an opportunity to participate in an Erasmus+ project to young people with fewer opportunities. As Life Zone prioritises inclusion, all partner organisations were selected for their work with youth facing social, economic, cultural, or discrimination-related barriers. - Promote intergenerational and intercultural dialogue by collecting stories from older generations at the preparation stage and transforming them into music, theatre, and storytelling performances that connect people across ages and cultures. - Strengthen cooperation and learning between organisations by involving partner teams with complementary expertise (music, theatre, emotional intelligence, communication), ensuring peer learning and quality partnership, as well as networking. - Increase the visibility and impact of youth work by producing creative outputs such as the Generations Unlocked film, social media reels and stories, and an open public performance attended by the local community, showcasing the results of Erasmus+ in action.
