By implementing this project we wanted to bring awareness to local and international youth towards the issues that cultural heritage preservation faces, such as the undervalued work of restorers and conservators and their lack of recognition in today's society and how today's environmental degradation and westernization threaten the survival of cultural heritage diversity. We believe that in the field of youth work practice, there needs to be a bigger volume of youth-initiated effort in keeping old craftsmanship skills, folk lifestyles and traditions alive, especially in cultures that have a small population and low visibility to the world. By bringing awareness towards the importance of preserving a culture, we can learn what it means to have a cultural identity, be comfortable with it and develop various competencies through intercultural learning and communication. Our project's objectives were to understand and value the processes involved in restorative and conservative work; to discuss and spread awareness of different cultural heritage safeguarding measures that we can implement in our everyday lives; and to identify and reconnect with cultural heritage elements at an international, national and individual level.
