The project’s primary objective was to develop a modular and adaptable Circular Design Training Module that equips designers with actionable tools and methods to create sustainable and circular solutions. Additional goals included: ● Raising awareness of the importance of systemic and future foresight skills among designers, ● Supporting the upskilling and reskilling of practicing designers, ● Strengthening collaboration between education, industry, and design organizations, ● Ensuring all materials are freely accessible to promote long-term use and adaptation. The project aimed to provide designers with practical knowledge and tools while increasing institutional capacity to strategically address sustainability challenges.
The project was initiated to address a critical gap in green skills for designers, ensuring they are equipped to lead the transition to a circular economy. While circular design is widely discussed, most design education and training initiatives lack a clear, practical framework for integrating circular economy principles into design practice. This project responded by bringing together expertise from Estonia, Finland, and other European stakeholders to co-create a structured and openly accessible training resource. It also sought to strengthen professional networks, share best practices, and highlight design’s role in supporting the European Green Deal and sustainability transitions.
