Objectives

The main objective of the project was to promote youth inclusion and develop their entrepreneurial skills through meaningful cooperation with elderly people. We aimed to encourage young people to take initiative, plan and implement activities that have a real impact on their communities. Another key objective was to promote active and healthy ageing by introducing fun, accessible, and engaging ways for elderly people to stay physically and socially active. In addition, we wanted to reduce the gap between generations by creating opportunities for interaction, mutual learning, and understanding. Finally, the project aimed to develop practical educational materials that can support both young people and organizations in promoting active lifestyles among elderly people in the future.

Background

We applied for this project because we saw a clear need to strengthen the connection between younger and older generations, while also promoting a more active and healthy lifestyle among elderly people. In Estonia, as in many countries, the population is ageing, and there is a growing need to increase healthy life years and reduce social isolation among older adults. At the same time, young people often lack practical opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills and take initiative in real-life community-based projects. We wanted to address both of these needs together by creating a project where youth can actively contribute to society while learning valuable skills. Overall, the project addresses the need for stronger social inclusion, healthier lifestyles, and more opportunities for youth to develop initiative and entrepreneurship through practical experience.
