Objectives

Through the implementation of our project, our primary aim was to empower young people to become agents of change in promoting gender equality through sports. From the perspective of youth work practice, our objectives were multifaceted, encompassing both individual and collective goals that sought to foster personal development, social engagement, and community empowerment among young participants. One key objective of our project was to provide young people with opportunities to develop critical thinking skills, self-confidence, and leadership capabilities through participation in sports-related activities. By engaging in discussions, workshops, and practical exercises focused on gender equality in sports, participants had the opportunity to reflect on their own beliefs and attitudes, challenge stereotypes, and develop a more inclusive and equitable mindset towards sports participation and leadership. Another objective was to foster social cohesion, teamwork, and mutual respect among young people from diverse backgrounds through collaborative sports activities. By bringing together participants from different genders, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds to play, learn, and compete together, our project aimed to break down barriers, build empathy, and promote solidarity among youth, fostering a sense of belonging and community cohesion. Furthermore, our project sought to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and tools to advocate for gender equality and social change within their communities. Through training, capacity-building, and empowerment activities, participants learned how to effectively communicate their ideas, mobilize support, and initiate grassroots initiatives aimed at challenging gender norms and promoting inclusivity in sports settings. By empowering young people to become advocates and change-makers, our project aimed to create a ripple effect that extended beyond the immediate project context, inspiring others to take action and contribute to a more equitable and just society. Overall, our project’s objectives were rooted in the principles of youth work practice, which prioritized empowerment, participation, and social justice. By providing young people with opportunities to develop their skills, engage in meaningful dialogue, and take action on issues that mattered to them, we aimed to cultivate a generation of empowered and socially conscious leaders who were committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable world through sports.
