Objectives

The project “Coaching as a Skill for Youth Empowerment” aimed to strengthen the quality of youth work by introducing coaching as a practical and effective tool for personal and professional development. The project sought to equip youth workers with competences that enable them to better support young people in identifying goals, developing their potential, improving well-being, and responding constructively to challenges. The main objective was to increase participants’ capacity to use coaching approaches in youth work contexts, fostering empowerment, self-reflection, and active participation. By integrating coaching methodologies with non-formal education, the project aimed to create more inclusive, supportive, and innovative learning environments for young people. More specifically, the project objectives were to: equip participants with practical coaching skills such as active listening, powerful questioning, constructive feedback, and goal-setting; empower young people by providing tools to build confidence, resilience, and problem-solving abilities; raise awareness of the benefits of coaching and its application in both personal and professional contexts; promote access to coaching approaches for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with fewer opportunities; encourage ethical, evidence-based coaching practices grounded in reflection and research; foster collaboration between coaching and related fields to support holistic youth development; support the development of self-awareness, leadership skills, and emotional intelligence among participants; introduce stress-management techniques, including mindfulness, relaxation, and time-management tools; encourage creativity, innovation, and collaboration in youth work practice. Overall, the project aimed to strengthen participants’ coaching competences and enable them to apply these skills in diverse youth work settings. By the end of the training, participants were better prepared to guide and support others effectively, contributing to a culture of empowerment, empathy, and continuous growth within their organisations and local communities.
