Objectives

The main objective of the UNITE project was to improve accessibility and inclusion in natural environments through practical and educational solutions. Specific objectives included facilitating access to nature for people with different abilities, developing digital tools providing clear and accessible route information, and promoting the educational use of these resources in adult learning. The project also aimed to enhance the competences of staff and volunteers in inclusion and sustainability, as well as to promote environmental awareness and community engagement. These objectives are aligned with Erasmus+ priorities, particularly inclusion, digital transformation and environmental sustainability.

Background

The UNITE project was developed in response to the need to improve accessibility to natural environments and promote social inclusion in outdoor activities. Many people, especially those with reduced mobility, elderly individuals, or people with fewer opportunities, face physical and informational barriers that limit their participation in nature-based activities. In addition, there was a need to provide accessible digital tools and educational resources to support adult learning and increase awareness of environmental issues. The project also addressed the need to raise awareness among local communities and organisations about inclusion, environmental sustainability and the use of digital tools in non-formal education. In this context, UNITE responds to these needs through the development of accessible routes, digital resources and awareness-raising actions at local and European level.
