Objectives

The project consisted of a Youth Exchange and a Professional Development Activity aimed at achieving the objectives established in our Accreditation. The theme of the Exchange, called Equal Voices, was gender equality and affective-sexual diversity. The project focused on the importance of working with young people on topics such as affective-sexual diversity and gender equality, with the goal of promoting a more inclusive and respectful society. Through participatory dynamics, workshops, and educational activities, the project sought to create a safe space where participants could explore and understand different sexual orientations and gender identities, as well as promote values such as respect, empathy, and equality. A key aspect of the project was to challenge gender stereotypes and combat discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, and/or gender identity. The project emphasized the importance of emotional education, helping young people develop strategies and tools to manage their emotions regarding diversity in a positive and respectful way. This project's long-term objective was not only to transform individual attitudes but also to contribute to the creation of more inclusive, equitable, and discrimination-free communities. The specific objectives of this project were: 1. To challenge and deconstruct gender stereotypes through participatory dynamics that allow youth to identify and question the gender norms and roles imposed by society. 2. To empower youth as agents of social change, providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to advocate for gender equality and respect for diversity in their communities through concrete actions and awareness-raising initiatives. 3. To learn tools such as games and social media that help us work on feminism and affective-sexual diversity with youth. The Professional Development Activity, called Healthy Future, focused on youth mental health, with the main objective of equipping youth workers with tools to work on this issue from a social perspective, rather than from a more psychological or psychiatric perspective. The use of social media and how to promote emotional education have been key to this project. Special emphasis was placed on various skills such as cognitive flexibility, teamwork, self-esteem, assertiveness, creativity, and emotional expression. Currently, there is great concern about the mental health needs of young people, as according to statistics: • One in seven young people between the ages of 10 and 19 has a mental disorder. • Depression and anxiety are among the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents. • Failure to address mental health issues in youth has consequences that extend into adulthood, damaging people's physical and mental health and reducing their potential to achieve a full life in the future. We find ourselves in a social moment in which young people are very interested in change and in valuing mental health. However, there is still a stigma and difficulties in seeking help, so one of the objectives of this project was to provide young people with tools to improve their well-being. Emotional education is a very powerful tool for achieving a more humane, just, and egalitarian society. This project explored psychosocial tools, as well as social media, with the aim of promoting mental health among young people and educating society about it. The specific objectives of this project were: 1. To discover different tools to promote mental health among young people and raise awareness among the general population (social media, emotional education). 2. To explore "life skills" and how to develop them: communication and emotional skills, creativity, teamwork, assertiveness, self-esteem. 3. To dismantle stereotypes and misconceptions about mental health and its associated problems. In these two projects, we have addressed objectives 1 and 3, prioritizing the participation of people from rural areas. We have also carried out all activities in the towns of our region. This is intended to promote the development of these rural areas and offer the youth who live there the opportunity to participate in and learn about these types of programs. The remaining objectives, focused on gender equality and affective-sexual diversity, sustainability, and the training of youth and the people who work with them, have been addressed through the project themes.
