The "GREEN & SustainABLE Communities" youth exchange project aimed to empower young people to understand and actively contribute to their local communities so they would become more green and sustainable, linking to Youth Goal #10 (Sustainable and Green Europe): Achieve a society in which all young people are environmentally active, educated, and able to make a difference in their everyday lives. Young individuals often felt happier and more satisfied when they got involved in their communities. Conversely, young people could feel isolated and anxious when they distanced themselves from the community. This linked to Youth Goal #5 (Mental Health & Wellbeing). Motivating young people to be active members of their communities had multiple benefits; unified communities provided support from family, friends, and neighbors, creating fresh possibilities for young people. Within these communities, young individuals felt supported, knew where to turn for assistance, and sensed that they were important members of the community. The aims and objectives of our youth exchange "GREEN & SustainABLE Communities" were: - Promoted active youth involvement in their communities by encouraging them to collaborate on green projects, events, or initiatives that addressed local environmental issues. - Empowered young people in order to develop and implement sustainable projects or campaigns within their home communities, aimed at creating positive environmental change and promoting community cohesion. - Shared good practices among participating communities and countries in areas such as green initiatives, sustainability, and active youth participation in local communities. - Developed soft skills among the participants using non-formal education methods. - Enhanced skills of participants, as outlined in the Youthpass framework, especially their ability to work with people from different cultures, communicate well in English, express ideas confidently, and actively participate. - Provided young people with information about the Erasmus+ Programme and its opportunities. - Provided opportunities for participants to build a network of like-minded individuals and develop practical skills related to environmental conservation, project management, and community engagement.
