“European Mit(h)os of Youth” (EMoY) Youth Exchange it is a KA1 youth exchange project that aims at young people, active and moved to explore the world, the significance and the importance of European myths and folklore sharing them with individuals from different backgrounds. This project is based on the ascertainment that under the rise of digital media, television and the internet, myths and folklore have become less and less popular and have been suppressed in many societies. Myths, folklore and tales inter-connect us and our past and present, provides us aspects and human values, boost our inter-cultural awareness and are part of the compression and coding of reality. For the reasons above, European myths and folklore has been chosen as a creative and powerful field for Youth’s personal, cultural and social awareness, intercultural exchange and transnational co-operation under the umbrella of Erasmus Plus Program. Myths answer sometimes timeless questions (labyrinth of life) and they could serve as a compass (μίτος/mitos) to each person, generation and nation. We aim to connect 48 young people from 8 countries (16-30 years old) that will have the opportunity to meet with multicultural aspects of Iberian folklore (Spain), ancient Greek mythology and modern fables (Greece), Roman myths and medieval folklore (Italy), Arabic and Persian routes (Turkey), Caucasian myths and stories (Georgia), Slavic folks and fairytales (Ukraine), Finnish and Baltic mythology (Estonia), myths made in the kingdoms of Carpathia and Transylvania (Romania). Participants will explore and exchange their national and european heritage on a personal, interpersonal, sociological and transnational level.
