The project “Art Against Exclusion” aimed primarily to promote social inclusion, empathy, and the active participation of young Europeans, with special attention to those with fewer opportunities, through artistic expression and non-formal education. The motivation arose from an analysis of the current reality faced by youth, marked by individualism, emotional disconnection, social pressure, and the lack of safe spaces to express themselves freely. In response to this context, an intercultural experience was designed in which art served as a tool for transformation and social cohesion. The general objective was to create an environment where young people could feel valued, heard, and motivated to reflect on their role in society, acting with critical thinking and in alignment with the values of the European Union. The project was based on participatory, horizontal, and experiential methodologies, and was structured around a youth exchange. Specific objectives achieved: Promotion of social inclusion and European values: Through urban art workshops and group dynamics, participants worked on themes such as diversity, equity, non-discrimination, and peaceful coexistence — essential values of the Erasmus+ programme and the EU Youth Strategy 2019–2027. The collective creation of a public mural visually reflected these principles and allowed young people to express themselves freely. Youth empowerment through non-formal education: Participants developed personal and social skills (leadership, communication, teamwork) using creative, cooperative, and reflective methods. They took on active roles in project implementation, which boosted their self-esteem and autonomy. Promotion of critical thinking and social awareness: The project encouraged reflection on the causes and consequences of social exclusion, using art as a channel for analysis and the expression of diverse realities. Young people were encouraged to identify stereotypes and act as agents of change. Encouragement of intercultural learning and multilingualism: The multicultural setting facilitated daily use of English as the working language, along with exposure to other languages (Spanish, Italian, Bulgarian). This multilingual environment enhanced intercultural communication and tolerance. Active participation and European citizenship: The exchange fostered a sense of belonging to a common Europe through exposure to different youth realities and discussions on shared values and rights. These objectives were fully aligned with the Erasmus+ KA1 priorities, such as: Improving learning outcomes through non-formal and intercultural learning. Increasing intercultural awareness by implementing the activity in a multicultural environment. Fostering more active participation in society through peer-based European activities. Raising awareness of the European project and the values of the EU.
