Global warming is no longer a problem of the future: it is a situation that must be stopped immediately or the destruction of the planet will be irreversible. Droughts, hurricanes, famine, poverty and destruction: these are some of the terrible consequences of global warming on our planet. And it is up to us to take an active part in curbing its effects if we want the next generations to inherit a world as we know it today, or even better. By participating in the exchange, the aim is to inform young people about this situation and how they can make improvements in their immediate environment, providing them with tools, resources, social skills, etc. that they can put into practice, for example, through recreational and leisure activities with an ecological focus and that can have a rapid and direct impact on all levels of the European population. The young people will learn from the direct experience of working with children and teachers involved in the fight against global warming and climate change in a way that will awaken in the participants the concern and the will to bring about real change. The multicultural approach of the project brings together alternative, unusual and culturally diverse points of view. The globalised and multicultural Europe in which we live needs approaches adapted to its situation, where the needs of each religion, ethnic group, culture or nationality are taken into account in the classroom and in non-formal education. The project is associated with the development of multiple skills, among them: Self-knowledge, empathy, assertive communication, relationships, decision-making when designing a personalised project and conflict resolution, which can naturally arise in a working group. Critical thinking. Managing emotions, tensions and stress. Flexibility and adaptation are developed when several ideas come together as one, forming a project full of contributions made by the participants. The ability to work in a team. Resolving capacity. Pro-activity, professionalism, attentiveness, active listening and effort develop naturally when working in a team. Communication skills, as it is an activity that promotes the use of a foreign language and where work is done in a cooperative and constructivist way. Reasoning. Participants will also develop or improve cognitive skills such as: Lateral thinking. The ability and capacity for planning, organisation, evaluation and self-evaluation of their participation and contributions, of the proposals of the other groups, and of their own group. In addition, they will put into practice their creative capacity, by trying to draw up a unique, novel and inclusive proposal. On the other hand, the members of the youth exchange will acquire tools and experience through cognitive learning, they will internalise knowledge on how to design, plan, develop, manage and evaluate a project. Finally, participants will develop and adapt intercultural behaviours due to the nature of the project. Cooperative caused by the constructivist methodology and the formation of work teams, responsible and respectful with the environment, due to the awareness that will be transferred to the young people during the stay.
