Objectives

Through the project, we aim to give visibility to the different healthy and sustainable ways of living. Through the OLIVA project, we seek to promote food and environmental sustainability, making use of local businesses, urban gardens, recycling products and implementing the 3Rs (Reduce, Recycle and Reuse), as far as possible. As we see the need to raise awareness of having a change of diet, we opted for the reworking of classic products of each area, seeing how they can be healthier and / or less harmful in the short or long term, we chose to follow the famous and healthy Mediterranean diet, very typical of our land. Finally, the project, since it is based on a cultural gastronomic exchange, will allow young people from three southern European countries, that is, from the rich Mediterranean, to share our cultures and ways of life and food; since we do not all have a single origin, the OLIVA project, apart from uniting us by our taste for food, also unites us to know other diverse and multicultural realities. The objectives of our project, OLIVA, are the following: To promote awareness about healthy food and the Mediterranean diet: teaching about the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet and how it can positively affect overall well-being. Develop cooking and culinary skills: delivery of hands-on workshops to learn how to cook healthy and simple Mediterranean recipes. Focus on food utilization techniques to reduce waste and create delicious meals from readily available ingredients. Promote sustainability and the concept of "kilometer zero": to explore how locally sourced food and nearby production can reduce carbon footprint. And, in turn, to establish connections with local farmers, farmers' markets or nearby food producers to better understand the importance of local consumption. Raise awareness about food waste and sustainable solutions: research strategies to reduce food waste in the kitchen while developing creative recipes with leftovers to minimize waste. Promote inclusiveness and cultural diversity: Explore the diversity of the Mediterranean diet and how it adapts to different cultures and traditions. Events will be organized in each country to share culinary experiences celebrating diversity through food.
