Objectives

1 out of 3 students in the world from 8 to 24 y.o. suffers from bullying. The aim of this project is to provide the youngsters with information, effective tools to help to solve these situations (from the point of view of the victim, the bully or an espectator), help them to understand their emotions and being able to identify and control them and to create awareness about a topic which, unfortunately, is very common and produces discomfort in the society. We have chosen emotional intelligence as a tool to fight bullying. It is defined as “the ability to recognize our feelings and manage them adequately, and it is considered essential to live mature and positive personal relationships”. Several studies suggest the phenomenon of bullying is related to our own emotions and, in addition, high levels of emotional intelligence are considered a protective variable from bullying. A healthy development of emotional intelligence provides control of emotions that avoids negative and violent actions from aggressors. The connecting thread we use is artistic expression: improvisation, creative writing, painting, free expression, creativity. This way, the young participants will be able to understand and know our emotions, face situations where emotional control plays a highly relevant role and generate assertiveness and empathy to reach the development of necessary skills to battle bullying situations. Our objectives are: - analyze the concepts of bullying, emotional intelligence, empathy and emotional expression. - elaborate reflections about bullying and its consequences. - make public the main actions against bullying in EU countries. - describe how emotions and their control affect bullying. - dramatize bullying situations and different strategies to solve them - involve the environment in the fight against bullying - understand the emotions and learn how to express them - provide with tools to control and manage them - create an artistic action to visibilice and raise awareness
