Objectives

Step IN is a Youth Exchange that will take place in Futag, Serbia, from 21st to 30th of August 2024, involving 40 participants, 8 group leaders + a coordinator, a total of 49 participants. It addresses challenges faced by adolescents aged 13 to 16, promoting inclusion and encouraging wellbeing through an active lifestyle. We recognize the lack of awareness about diversity and its impact on social well-being, compounded by sedentary lifestyles and limited understanding of health. Teenagers encounter barriers to an active lifestyle due to limited sports programs and societal pressures, while exposure to diverse cultures remains insufficient, hindering the development of essential life skills. Implementing a youth exchange program in Serbia provides a unique opportunity to challenge stereotypes and promote cultural understanding. By hosting international youth, we aim to showcase diversity, reducing misconceptions and promoting personal growth. Our holistic approach integrates health sessions to promote awareness and understanding, addressing personal barriers to physical activity and empowering teenagers to adopt an active lifestyle. -To address these interconnected challenges, our project focuses on: -To cultivate an understanding of inclusion and diversity through interactive sessions and workshops. -To establish a supportive environment, free from judgement, enabling teens to explore and enjoy activities without succumbing to societal pressures. -To instil healthy habits that extend beyond screen time -To promote an active lifestyle to promote physical and mental well-being, breaking down barriers and inspiring lasting lifestyle changes. -To encourage cross-cultural dialogue, cooperation, to expand perspectives and enrich global awareness. -To empower a generation of teenagers to lead active, fulfilling lives. -To seek for the development of soft skills, teamwork, and interpersonal connections, highlighting the significance of an active and healthy lifestyle. These objectives align closely with the goals of the Erasmus+ programme and Youth Exchanges, including improving youth skills and competencies, promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities, encouraging active citizenship, promoting intercultural understanding, and strengthening European cooperation in youth initiatives.
