Objectives

Plan(t)s For Future is a Youth Exchange that will involve 36 youngsters from six different countries (Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, France, Slovenia). The participants will take part in an intercultural program which aims to generate interest around sustainability and to increase knowledge related to tools for self-empowerment and ecological solutions. This project is made to create an experience for youngsters who want to navigate the challenges of the ecological and social crisis that modern society is called to face. Through engaging non-formal education methods, our project aims to instill a profound sense of responsibility, respect, and interconnectedness with plant life and ecosystems. We will address the need to deepen our understanding of the intricate web of life on our planet. Our project seeks to discuss the contemporary ecological crisis and deconstruct the prevailing anthropocentric mindset that has fostered division between humanity and nature, promoting our ability to consider human integration with the natural world. BreGal members have been involved in numerous recent youth work contexts and have witnessed the concern of young people regarding the environmental and social crisis we are facing. The needs we identify in today’s youth reflect their aspirations, desire for a better world, personal growth, and the pursuit of solutions to global challenges. These needs are: -Understanding and addressing urgent environmental and social challenges that are impacting our world; -Finding channels to take proactive steps and initiatives in order to create positive change; -Developing skills to effectively communicate concerns and advocate for solutions on both local and global platforms; -Practice foreign languages; -Enhancing teamwork and collaborative problem-solving abilities to tackle complex issues collectively; -Co-creating and participating in an inclusive environment that values and respects diverse perspectives and backgrounds, having the chance to practice inclusion and diversity among each other; -Pursuing personal growth through self-awareness, empathy, and resilience-building in the face of challenges; -Nurturing a sense of responsibility and commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable practices; -Acquire skills in youth participation to actively contribute as members of our communities; -Nurturing a sense of global citizenship and interconnectedness, fostering collective responsibility for the planet's well-being. The objectives of Plan(t)s For Future are: -RAISING ECOLOGICAL AWARENESS among youngsters by creating spaces to reflect and spread knowledge about plant life and their vital role in sustaining ecosystems. -FOSTER PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT of youngsters by providing them with new skills, encouraging initiative, and nourishing critical thinking toward alternative lifestyles; -ENHANCE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH NETWORK gathering young people interested in sustainability and rural areas by involving them in activities based on intercultural dialogue and cooperation; -EXPAND YOUTH INVOLVEMENT IN HOLISTIC PROJECTS creating youth opportunities to explore different possibilities within NGOs and other initiatives; -ENCOURAGING A PARADIGM SHIFT: We want to cultivate a holistic mindset that recognizes the significance of every living entity in shaping the world we inhabit, also developing an intersectional approach when considering solutions for problems that involve both ecological and social awareness; -NURTURE OPEN DIALOGUE among youngsters in order to understand different perspectives and experiences while thinking together of possible solutions for common problems; -EMPOWER RESPONSIBLE PRACTICES AND ACTIONS: through experiential learning and immersive activities, we seek to empower individuals to become conscientious agents of sustainability change. Furthermore, we want to encourage them to develop specific and purposeful actions that can contribute to spreading informed perspectives and therefore help to preserve our planet for future generations -CULTIVATE A SENSE OF WONDER for the natural world. We believe that developing a renewed appreciation for the beauty and complexity of natural ecosystems plays a positive part in the process of connecting with nature and actively acting to preserve it.
