Objectives

Ecotopia is a youth exchange program that will be implemented in Espluga de Francolí from October 3 to 14, 2024, with the aim of raising awareness about environmental issues, their consequences, our impact, and how they affect vulnerable populations. The Ecotopia project emerges as an urgent response to climate change, focusing on raising awareness among young generations, pivotal for building a more sustainable future. It acknowledges that lack of individual awareness and action has significantly contributed to the current environmental crisis, manifested in natural disasters and biodiversity loss. To address this issue, Ecotopia proposes actively involving young people through the arts. It recognizes that many youths do not pay attention to climate change because they do not feel responsible or aware of its importance. Therefore, the project uses the arts as a tool to present the topic in a more accessible and engaging way, enabling a better understanding of the urgency to take action. The project aims to share knowledge and experiences among countries to improve global environmental management. It promotes the exchange of strategies and approaches, recognizing the different realities and challenges faced by countries. Ecotopia also seeks to raise awareness of social disparities in the fight against climate change. It acknowledges that this phenomenon disproportionately affects vulnerable people due to socioeconomic, geographical, and health factors. Therefore, the project promotes inclusion and solidarity as integral parts of the response to climate change. Therefore, the specific objectives of the project are: Increase awareness about environmental issues and our individual impact on them by investigating personal environmental attitudes. Raise awareness about the impact of climate change on vulnerable populations. Inspire young people to take action and adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. Understand and raise awareness about EU environmental policy. Debate and share strategies and approaches from developed and developing countries. Promote non-formal education and foster artistic skills. Promote intercultural understanding, acceptance, and tolerance among the countries involved. Increase cooperation and future collaborations between participating organizations. The Ecotopia project aligns with the goals of the Erasmus+ program and the priorities of youth exchanges by offering participants from various countries the opportunity to investigate the implications of climate change and environmental sustainability. Its main objective is to motivate young people to act locally against climate change, promoting their civic engagement and intercultural dialogue. The European Commission prioritizes environmental protection and combating climate change, and Ecotopia contributes to these goals by fostering environmental awareness and youth participation. We believe that empowering youth on these issues is essential for a sustainable future.
