Objectives

Theme and Starting Point of Our Project The main theme of our project is intercultural communication, which is becoming increasingly important in the globalizing world. We acted with the idea that individuals from different cultures should be provided with the necessary skills to work together and establish healthy and productive communication, and we implemented our project accordingly. Purpose of Our Project The purpose of our project was to increase the knowledge of youth workers on intercultural communication and to ensure that they communicate effectively with youth workers from different cultures. We also emphasized the importance of recognizing the importance of intercultural interaction, comprehending the importance of tolerance, eliminating empathy deficiencies and combating prejudices. Achieved Goals of Our Project 1-We ensured that youth workers acquired more information within the scope of intercultural communication. 2-We supported youth workers to be more effective in intercultural interaction. 3-We encouraged youth workers to transform informal teaching techniques into behavior. 4-We made an effort to create intercultural learning opportunities for youth workers. 5- We encouraged youth workers to interact with different cultures. 6- We ensured that youth workers developed cooperation in order to work effectively with individuals from different cultures. 7- We contributed to the youth workers gaining new skills so that they can produce more effective solutions to intercultural conflicts. 8- We helped youth workers develop awareness about the need to combat prejudiced, discriminatory and racist attitudes. 9- We ensured that participants with fewer opportunities benefit from equal opportunities regarding Inclusion and Diversity. 10- We ensured that participants with fewer opportunities acquired new information about Erasmus Plus Programs and Youthpass Certificate. 11- We drew attention to the goals and priorities of Erasmus Plus Programs and focused on environmental sustainability and the use of digital tools. Topics We Addressed in Our Project 1- Stereotyping and Prejudices Putting people in certain stereotypes and creating false perceptions creates major obstacles in intercultural communication. In this sense, we ensured that our youth workers in our project gained awareness in order to solve the existing problems in terms of stereotyping and prejudices. 2- Lack of Intercultural Empathy Lack of empathy towards different cultures is one of the main difficulties in communication. In this context, we enabled our youth workers to understand cultural diversity and develop a tolerant approach. 3- Negativities Originating from Differences Such as Gender, Age, Race and Religion Prejudices and misunderstandings originating from differences such as gender, age, race and religion make intercultural interaction difficult. In order to overcome these obstacles, we ensured that our youth workers and participants with fewer opportunities worked together throughout our project. 4- Closed and Rigid Culture The fact that some cultures have a closed and rigid attitude towards the outside world prevents opportunities for effective communication. Therefore, we ensured that a more open-minded and tolerant approach was developed in terms of culture in the activities carried out during our project. At the same time, we supported the learning of the cultural values of all participating organizations during the cultural activities. 5- Closedness to Intercultural Interaction Being closed to interaction with different cultures is one of the basic problems that many people experience in intercultural communication. In order to overcome this closeness, we created various interaction opportunities within the scope of our project. At the same time, we supported the integration of our youth workers and participants with fewer opportunities. Meeting the Needs Throughout the project, we carried out various activities to meet the identified needs. With these activities, we ensured that our youth workers and participants with fewer opportunities were more conscious of intercultural interaction, developed empathy towards different cultures and adopted a tolerant attitude. We supported our youth workers and participants with fewer opportunities to gain these skills through presentations, group work and intercultural interaction activities.
