Objectives

By researching and following current situation of minorities, recent negative political and social developments in Europe and in communication with staff from partner organizations, we recognized that minority youth face a lot of issues in our local communities, such as high risk of exclusion, often disadvantaged in the labour market (harder to get jobs, lower or substandard remunerations etc.), suffer social disadvantages and face discrimination and violation of their human rights. We have also recognized clear needs of our organizations and youth workers to strengthen the capacities, improve the competences and get methodological approaches and tools to work with and support inclusion and active participation of young people from minority groups. In order to address the issues that minority youth face in our communities and the needs of our organizations and staff, Asociación K’MON in cooperation with organizations from 9 European countries developed the project which aims to train, empower and improve competences of participants to design and run activities that can lead towards social inclusion and participation of young people from minority groups into community and democratic life as well as to equip youth workers with tools to fight against social exclusion on any level and in any form. The project is developed to address the needs of involved organizations and issues of minorities in their local communities, but also to address the learning and development needs of youth workers that take part in the project. Therefore, the Training course provides learning opportunities with objectives to: - To raise awareness about how certain minorities and groups of individuals are socially excluded on the basis of their status, life choices or beliefs and encourage youth workers and organisations to take a stand against discrimination, racism, xenophobia and social exclusion; - To educate 22 youth workers about minorities, minorities rights in particular and human rights in general challenges that minorities face, minority-majority relations, intercultural and interfaith dialogue as well as analyse and compare different models of social inclusion of minorities around Europe; - To empower youth workers and organisations in developing quality activities that involve or benefit minority young people and promote social inclusion on all levels; - To foster social cohesion and inclusion in Europe through addressing the issue of social exclusion and encouraging young people's awareness and commitment to tackling these issues through creating and implementing local youth activities; - To develop, practice and evaluate non-formal educational tools and methods for minority youth inclusion in particular and youth work with minority youth in general; - To improve the intercultural, social and facilitation skills of youth workers as well as their competences to manage and work with diversity in all its forms; - To promote Erasmus+ programme as a platform to work with minority youth and the opportunity to reach and enable inclusion and active participation of excluded groups of young people. - To foster sustainable international cooperation and networking, capacity and partnership building in the youth field working with minorities and social inclusion of minority youth.
