Youth is a critical age when young people face uncertainties, challenges and needs that must be met and addressed. "Many of them have doubts about their future" but, at the same time, "they should not only be the architects of their own lives, but also contribute to positive change in society" [EU Youth Strategy]. However, Europe is experiencing a situation of strong economic, social, political and migratory crisis, started by the Covid-19 and aggravated by the wars taking place near our borders, which, lasting much longer than expected, are causing a strong impact on young people, questioning their values, freedoms and conquests and drastically changing their way of living, relating, studying, working, etc. In a political and social system where their voice is not considered as powerful as that of experts and policy makers, they are losing their motivation, interest and commitment to participate in society and be active citizens. This project aims to address some of the following difficulties and problems faced by young people, such as disillusionment and demotivation, mistrust in institutions and the political system, emotional and interpersonal difficulties, loss of identity and sense of belonging, and changes in relationships between young people. Therefore, based on the previous experiences of each of the partners in this field, the needs analysed in our target groups and communities and the work we have been carrying out, professionals and organisations from six countries of the European Union have decided to apply for this project which aims to provide professionals in the field of youth with tools that will enable them to face the current challenges in terms of active and committed youth participation. The main objectives of the project are: -To develop the key competences of participants to improve the quality of their youth work; -To provide youth workers with new tools for active youth participation through the development of social and personal competences of young people, especially those with fewer opportunities; -To generate spaces for reflection and debate on the current situation of youth and youth work methods; -To exchange tools and good practices among youth workers from five countries on the development of personal and social competences in young people.
