By implementing this project, our objectives from the perspective of youth work practice are as follows: 1. Enhance Awareness and Understanding: We aim to increase awareness and understanding among youth workers about the unique challenges faced by girls, female youth, and women with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). By providing insights into the gender-specific manifestations of ASD and the camouflaging abilities often exhibited by females, we seek to equip youth workers with a deeper understanding of the disorder. 2. Improve Detection and Diagnosis: One of our key objectives is to improve the detection and diagnosis of ASD in females. We will develop new training programs that consider the female-specific symptom profile of ASD, facilitating the detection and diagnosis process. By addressing the gender gap in autism diagnosis, we aim to prevent the psychological, social, and quality of life consequences associated with delayed diagnosis. 3. Equip Youth Workers with Effective Tools: We intend to introduce participants to relevant and effective tools that support girls, female youth, and women with ASD. Through practical activities promoting well-being, acceptance, and respect, participants will have the opportunity to explore and utilize these tools in their work with autistic individuals. This hands-on approach will enhance their ability to provide appropriate care and support. 4. Foster International Collaboration and Learning: The project will serve as a platform for international collaboration and learning among youth workers from across Europe. Participants will engage in experiential learning programs with leading experts in ASD, inclusion, and gender, facilitating knowledge exchange and the sharing of best practices. The international group of participants will serve as a valuable learning space for exploring individual roles and competencies in addressing the needs of autistic females. 5. Advocate for Change: Through our project activities, we aim to address issues of interest to girls, female youth, and women in our societies and make tangible recommendations for future research, policy, and practice. By advocating for change at local, national, and European levels, we seek to improve the quality of support and services available to individuals with ASD. 6. Strengthen Partnerships and Erasmus+ Knowledge: We aspire to strengthen partnerships and create new bridges of cooperation among our project partners. Additionally, we aim to enhance participants' knowledge about the Erasmus+ program, empowering them to serve as multipliers and utilize the program in their future activities. This will contribute to raising the quality of projects implemented within the Erasmus+ program. 7. Empower Girls and Women with Autism: We aim to empower girls and women with autism to better navigate the challenges of a society that can often be hostile towards them. By providing tailored support, resources, and opportunities for skill development, we seek to enhance their resilience, self-confidence, and ability to advocate for their needs and rights. Through empowerment initiatives, we aspire to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment where girls and women with autism can thrive and lead fulfilling lives. In summary, our project aims to empower youth workers with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to effectively support girls, female youth, and women with ASD. Through awareness-raising, training, collaboration, advocacy, and partnership building, we seek to create positive change and improve the lives of individuals affected by autism across Europe.
