"Experience is not what happens to you, is what you do with what happens to you" (Huxley) The idea for this project emerged from the realization of the potential of Adventure Therapy and Wilderness Therapy in effectively engaging and supporting young people with problems or fewer opportunities, who often resist conventional forms of assistance. Through Experientia's experiences and interactions with youth workers from partner countries, we identified a growing need for innovative approaches to youth intervention that can bridge the gap between traditional services and the youths who need them. Therefore, the project aims to enhance the quality of youth work by establishing a sustainable network for the development and implementation of Adventure Therapy (AT) and Wilderness Therapy (WT) activities/programs, fostering international collaboration and enhancing the professional competence of youth workers in this field. OBJECTIVES: To develop knowledge and skills of youth workers in the theoretical and practical aspects of AT/WT through immersive and experiential training. To equip youth workers with practical resources and tools essential for facilitating AT/WT interventions within their communities. To consult, and support youth workers in creating and implementing effective AT/WT activities/programs, focusing on non-formal and informal learning opportunities. To provide ongoing online mentoring support to youth workers in implementing activities developed during the training course To facilitate knowledge sharing, best practice exchange, and discussion of challenges encountered during the implementation of AT/WT activities/programs. To cultivate a network of mutual support within the AT/WT field, fostering international partnerships and enhancing the professional competence of youth workers in this field. To reach the objectives we planned a structured progression of learning and practical application by youth workers, starting with immersive training in Spain, followed by ongoing support and development online, and concluding with a seminar in Italy that includes both experiential learning and strategic planning for future projects and initiatives in Adventure Therapy and Wilderness Therapy.
