Objectives

Local communities have a key role in building solidary, open and vital society. One important but often underestimated social group is youth. Only by involving young people, youth workers and other members of the community we can create sustainable living environment. Participation in arranging your own life and the life of the community forms the basis for development of a strong civil society, in which youngsters are the actors driving social change. 'Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation. Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace. If, however, they are left on society's margins, all of us will be impoverished. Let us ensure that all young people have every opportunity to participate fully in the lives of their societies.' - Kofi Annan. Therefore, CSOs have an important role to encourage youth participation by finding the most efficient and up to date methodologies of non-formal education. Youngsters themselves benefit from their participation, as their future and standards of living depend on decisions and policies that local, national, international institutions make. Youth participation in democratic processes also forms responsible citizens for the country. Proceeding from this reality and a lot of gaps in the sphere, we've come up with a project to encourage young people to become active and engaged citizens in their communities through fostering youth workers mentoring and community analyzing skills. The objectives of the project are to: Map the roles of young people and youth workers in the community. Develop youth workers analyzing and understanding skills and competences. Develop youth workers mentoring skills. Encourage youth workers to support young people to become active and engaged citizens in their communities. Facilitate networking and further co-operation between participants and their organizations for issues concerning cooperation between youth, youth workers and communities across EU member and neighboring countries. Enriching communities with diverse activities, tools and methodologies in the field of youth activism. These objectives are linked to the mobility project's aims of Erasmus+ programme by "raising awareness and understanding of others cultures and countries, offering them to build networks of international contacts and develop a sense of European citizenship and identity". The project will be a great opportunity for organizations to share successful methodologies and activate their target groups, which will create stronger partnerships, which is one of Erasmus+ programme objectives. The training course also raises awareness about EU Citizenship and democracy, inclusion and equity, and creates social dialogue on national/international level by engaging youth with different backgrounds from different countries.
