The general objective of the project was to increase youth workers and youth intercultural competences, participation and global citizenship. In youth workers mobilities we wanted to handle topics that were connected to current social phenomenons and with youth exchanges the ideas for topics came from youth. We wanted to involve youth workers from smaller municipalities, from new organisations in the field of international youth work, and young people interested to learn about cultural exchange. A1 YE 4 Series Finland The main objectives were to explore the connection between nature and culture in order to strengthen the participants' cultural identity and to increase appreciation for the environment through a cultural perspective; to increase multicultural competences among participants; and to foster global citizenship. The Youth exchange was part of the series of exchanges that had been done with the same partner organizations and partly with the same youth. A2 Youth workers for environmental rights -seminar Youth Centre Villa Elba is part of the Council of Europe Quality Label network and hosted an expert visit by human rights education professionals in April 2024. During this visit, the experts observed a strong link between environmental education and human rights education in the youth centre’s work. This insight inspired us to design a seminar focused on these themes to further develop our practices and strengthen the competences of youth workers both in our region and across our networks. The main objective was to enhance youth workers’ skills in combining environmental and human rights education, to test non-formal learning activities that could serve as practical tools for the participating organizations and to get to know already existing material from the topic. A3 Act for future - Study visit in Kosovo The cooperation between Youth Centre Villa Elba in Finland and the study visit host Youth Centre Drenas in Kosovo began a few years ago at a contact-making seminar organized by the Finnish National Agency for Erasmus+ Youth. What started with youth exchanges, team volunteering and staff mobility soon sparked deeper questions: What can we learn from each other? And more specifically: What can we in Finland learn from Kosovo – a country that has, in a relatively short time, started rebuilding its democracy and civic structures after war? In times when conflict affects many societies up close, we believe it is crucial to also focus on post-conflict rebuilding and the role of youth work in peacebuilding. That’s where the idea of a study visit titled ”Act for Future” was born. We invited youth workers interested on the topic of youth participation from Central Ostrhobothnia and abroad. Aim was to learn about post conflict civic activisim, strenghten youth workers skills to support youth participation and active citizenship and build long-lasting cooperation between organisations. Idea was to think for the future, to learn how can civic activism help building peace after war. And see in to the future, that when for example the war in Ukraine is going to end, how we as youth workers can be part as building the society after war. A4 YE Peace & Conflict Resolution The main objective was to explore and understand the concept of peace from both personal and communal perspectives through introspective activities and intercultural dialogue, empowering young people to express themselves, listen to others, and build more peaceful relationships and communities by starting from within themselves; to increase multicultural competences among participants; and to foster global citizenship. This project came from idea of a young person that took part in a youth exchange in previous summer, and wanted to build a group behind this idea. A5 YE Dialogue in Action The main object was to empower young people to promote peace through concrete actions and inclusive dialogue, by creating opportunities that make space for others to explore, learn, and engage with the idea of peace in their communities, while also gain practical skills, such as pod-casting and wood work; to increase multicultural competences among participants; and to foster global citizenship. Partner organisation from Romania had been nationally already developing peace education and had a group of young people interested to handle this topic more in the international setting as well as they had experience on podcasting. Finnish group on the other hand had the will to do something contrete with their hands and wanted to build the peace garden. Both of these aspects were then combined on the dialogue and peace topic and then practiced together.
