We wanted to highlight the significance of Finnish nature and its related values from the perspective of youth. The core of the project was experiencing the well-being provided by nature in a busy society, which is a central challenge for the well-being of today's youth. We aimed to reflect on and experience nature and its grounding effect in various changing environments. From the perspective of Finnish youth, we wanted to offer a unique opportunity for those coming from different environments and foreign cultures to encounter the strong and constructive relationship Finns (including youth) have with the forest as an element and Finnish culture as a resource. From the perspective of youth work, the project provides a fertile ground to utilize experiential pedagogy as a driving force. We were able to leverage our extensive professional expertise as group leaders in different operational environments and thus learn more ourselves. Youth exchange is an opportunity for youth workers to genuinely support the initiative and participation of young people in our municipality, while also providing tools for active citizenship and understanding multiculturalism. Finnish youth received direct feedback from their Spanish friends about the good and nature-oriented project, and many reported feeling a different kind of pride for Finland as a result of the youth exchange. Based on the feedback from the youth and the direct feedback received, we achieved the set goals commendably.
