At firt, we wanted to replicate our standard student mobility programme, as we do every year, either in the first year of the engineering degree programme or in the final year. These mobility periods are permanent features of our curriculum, with a steady number of around twenty study mobility placements each year. It was also a question of continuing to develop our key European partnerships through staff mobility. Overall, the aim was to maintain a presence within the European Higher Education Area, in line with our public service mission in higher education. This is because ISTOM is, in fact, an EESPIG (private higher education institution of general interest), a status granted by its supervisory ministry. This status entails carrying out public service missions, and participation in the European Higher Education Area is one such mission. Therefore the school’s general policy statement emphasises the development of European partnerships. The use of this grant agreement fell within this broader framework.
