Objectives

L’Horizon is a single-field vocational training center (with 180 students) accredited to prepare students for the Diplôme d'État d'Éducateur de Jeunes Enfants (DEEJE), a Level 6 qualification. Since the 2018 reform, our program has been enriched with an integrated bachelor’s degree in educational sciences, in partnership with the University of Paris Nanterre. Our pedagogical project aims to train professionals capable of meeting the needs of the education and social work sectors in Europe and beyond, with internationalization serving as a key lever for professional and personal development. Our training is not university-based, as it is a higher education vocational program. This year, the decree of October 6, 2025, committed us to a major reengineering of the DEEJE diploma for the 2026 academic year. This significant restructuring of our pedagogical framework has focused our attention on aligning the new requirements of the reference framework with our Erasmus+ commitments. We seized this opportunity to formalize and strengthen the integration of Erasmus+ learning mobility into our training curriculum. Since our first Erasmus+ accreditation in 2012, we have progressively integrated the program’s values, as we are convinced that exchanges among education stakeholders enrich professional practices and develop intercultural skills. This international strategy impacts our organization, training framework, and support for both students and staff. To our knowledge, few single-field social work training centers of our size offer such a high volume of annual Erasmus+ mobility departures, while also recognizing Erasmus+ mobility within the training framework for better project support. This dynamic reflects the central role Erasmus+ has played in our institution’s project for over a decade. The pedagogical architecture of the renovated diploma (DEEJE reform of October 6, 2025) includes two formalized and recognized preparatory modules in the new framework: -Year 1: "Language and Mobility" module, introducing European mobility, project methodology, and intercultural and linguistic awareness to enable short-term incoming or outgoing study mobility or to prepare for internship mobility in the second year. -Year 2: "Foreign Language, Culture, and Europe" module, continuing preparation for outgoing Erasmus+ internships (language proficiency, cultural immersion, and collective/individual support). This structure offers a two-year pedagogical continuum within the framework of our state diploma, validating each mobility as a reflective learning experience in the renovated DEEJE curriculum. L’Horizon relies on a modest but solid network of partners, including Erasmus Hogeschool Brussels (since 2016) and CEGEP Montmorency in Canada, Quebec (since 2012). These early childhood educator training partnerships provide our students with access to high-quality practical training and enabled us to implement short-term study mobilities in 2024–2025. They also allow us to expand our network through their own partners (e.g., ELTE TOK Budapest, University of Bologna). For the first time in 2024–2025, we organized outgoing study mobilities as part of a Hybrid Intensive Program with Erasmus Hogeschool and ELTE TOK Budapest, held in February 2025 and March 2026. This achievement, the result of two years of preparatory work, allows first-year students to participate in recognized short-term study mobility. We aim to coordinate a Blended Intensive Program (BIP) to develop incoming intensive study mobility, strengthen our hosting capacities, showcase our staff’s skills, and diversify our mobility activities. Thus, the DEEJE reengineering for the 2026 academic year and the development of our Erasmus+ activities reinforce our commitment to the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). The two preparatory modules formalize our long-standing commitment to European mobility. Our strategy aims to extend access to various forms of mobility (internships, studies, hybrid, STT, STA) to all learners, leveraging our team’s expertise, solidified partnerships, and innovations (incoming/outgoing BIPs). The continuation of internationalization is a central pillar of the renovated training project, enabling future educators and our staff to develop essential social work and training skills in Europe and beyond, while meeting the European program’s expectations.
