The Local Public Institution for Agricultural Education and Vocational Training of the Robert provides training to 240 young people, high school students and students in the following areas of training: Landscaping, Food processing, Sale and marketing of food products, Human services and territorial animation. The food industry sector is particularly developed locally; this industrial sector employs more than 3,000 workers in factories manufacturing a variety of products (milk, meat, fruit and vegetables, etc.). Positions in production and quality control are the main functions to be filled. The training of BTSA Bioqualim (quality, food, innovation and sanitary control) is particularly suitable for integrating these agri-food companies. And young people who do an internship abroad enter the labor market with an asset. They can value their skills, their ability to adapt, and their open-mindedness. We highlight these arguments when promoting our BTSA Bioqualim, the only higher education program offered at the Robert’s LPA. The possibility of undertaking international mobility, mainly financed by Erasmus, is a factor in attractiveness. Without funding from the European Union, it would be unthinkable for these young people from modest families to project themselves into such a project. In Martinique, 28% of the population lives below the poverty line and the Lycée du Robert is located in a priority education area. It is important to emphasize that our overseas territory is located more than 7000km from continental Europe. Few students have ever had the opportunity to go beyond the borders of their island. It is an opportunity to make them aware of their belonging to the European community. Beyond the discovery and familiarization of a different professional environment, we want to introduce our young people to the culture and lifestyle of a European country while practicing English and becoming familiar with the language of their host country. The Erasmus dynamic is therefore crucial in our institution, which promotes openness to the international world. Recall that international cooperation is one of the six missions of agricultural education. Feedback from students who have engaged in mobility in previous years is very positive, so it is a source of motivation for new students. Our establishment also offers mobility opportunities for members of the teaching staff, administrative staff, technicians, and members of the management team, seeking professional advancement and new challenges. On the program, periods of observation, training, exchange of practices but also work around international cooperation, the preparation of future mobilities for our learners and staff. Meeting, exchanging and getting to know each other with foreign professionals is rich. The discovery of industrial activities on different raw materials is recoverable locally. We maintain our relations with our foreign partners and make new contacts (notably thanks to the welcome on our establishment of delegations coming from other countries). Our relationships of trust with several partners in Hungary have allowed us to find a new internship location that perfectly matches the training objectives of BTSA BioQualim. This host organization will benefit the students of the 2025/2026 promotion. Over the years, our institution has developed a real culture of European and international cooperation, making mobility a strong focus of its educational project. Student internship mobility, as well as staff training mobility, are now fully integrated into our operations and contribute each year to strengthening the European openness of our educational community. Beyond mobility, our institution is committed to promoting the values and opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ programme through awareness-raising and promotion activities, particularly during the organisation of Erasmus Days. These events allow to share the experiences of participants, encourage new mobilities and spread a culture of European citizenship among students, teaching teams and our partners. We also wish to strengthen the visibility of our commitment throughout Martinique, by demonstrating that higher education institutions in overseas territories are fully invested in the European dynamic. Our ambition is to show that geographical distance does not hinder international cooperation, but on the contrary can be a source of wealth and openness.
